What are Marketing Sections?
Smart Emails exclusive: Marketing Sections do not exist in Shopify’s default notification emails. Smart Emails adds them — and you control everything live, without re-exporting.
Marketing Sections turn your Shopify notification emails into a sales channel. Every order confirmation, shipping update, or return notification becomes an opportunity to drive repeat purchases.
How they work
- All 5 Marketing Sections are always visible in the editor canvas with a status label (Active or Hidden)
- You decide per template which sections appear — e.g. Discounts in Order Confirmation but not in Shipping
- Changes to text, codes, and settings go live instantly — no re-export needed
- Enable or disable a section with one click — active in the next email Shopify sends
The 5 Marketing Sections
- Discounts — Promote discount codes. Start a sale in 10 seconds, end it with one click.
- Featured Product — Highlight a specific product in every email. New launch? Swap the product instantly.
- Recommended Products — Shopify shows personalized product suggestions based on the customer’s order.
- Gift Card — Promote gift cards before holidays. Enable before Christmas, disable after.
- Reorder — Remind customers to reorder consumable products (coffee, skincare, supplements).
Example: Running a holiday promotion
- Open the Discounts section in the editor
- Enter your discount code and customize the message
- Choose which email templates show the discount
- Done — the discount appears in the next email Shopify sends
- Promotion over? Set the section to Hidden. Instantly gone from all emails.
